McLaren unveiled in Newbury headquarters on Friday 29/01/10 the new racing car for 2010, the MP4-25. After a mixed 2009 season with lots of ups and downs, McLaren is targeting on winning both championships for 2010. Despite engine manufacturer Mercedes slowly switching to its new F1 Team (ex-Brawn GP), the new MP4-25 retains the 'silver-arrow' style. Jenson Button (2009 Champion) switch from Brawn GP and Lewis Hamilton (2008 Champion) will be driving the new car for 2010, and great internal fights are predicted for the new championship. Martin Whitmarsh quoted Graham Bell who once said that preparation is the main key to success, and this year McLaren prepared more comprehensively than the previous year.
Lewis Hamilton said in autosport.com that he's very confident 2010 we'll be a different story compared to 2009 season. Lewis said that the car is completely different and he is very proud because he had played an important role into the input into it. The McLaren team has been working on the new car for quite a long time trying to design and produce new components, develop and improve the aerodynamic balance of the car. Lewis is certain that the new car will handle completely different to its predecessor.
On the other hand, Lewis' teammate and 2009 F1 Champion, Jenson Button said that the MP4-25 first taste showed a great potential, although its competitiveness will be shown on the track. Jenson has driven the new car on the radical McLaren simulator, but the real test will be on the Valencia testing session. Lewis Hamilton emphasized on the limited testing mileage and the importancy of this year's testing period, saying that ''we have a big heavy fuel tank, narrow tires-hopefully we can maximize each of those days to get as much running as possible and get to the first race in a great position.''
